Sean Knox - President & CEO - Hawaii Employment
Sean Knox is the CEO & President of Hawaii Employment Services and was previously the owner and President of POI Employment, LLC. Sean has over 18 years of experience in professional staffing in Hawaii. After working for a national, mainland based staffing agency, Sean decided to open POI Employment in April 2005 with a focus on personalized, high quality services. Sean has been working in business management since 1993, when he received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Puget Sound. Although Sean is a “local boy,” growing up on both the Big Island and Maui, his business management experience has taken him to Washington and England. In 1999, he returned home to Hawaii with his wife Sarah Knox.
Ann Keolanui-Manabat- Branch Manager (O'ahu)
Ann joined the HiEmployment Team as a Staffing Manager in 2012. Her previous experience in the industry allowed her to return to the field she has a true passion for – Staffing and Human Resources. She appreciates the partnerships that have developed over the years with clients and candidates and believes those partnerships are the foundation of HiEmployment’s continuous growth. The business quickly grew during her tenure and Ann has had opportunity to lead, train and motivate new team members to the company. In 2014, she was named Employee of the Quarter. She also spent time assisting with the launch of our Kona and Maui branches. In 2016, Ann was promoted to O’ahu Branch Manager. She truly appreciates working with such a supportive team whose successes reflect the pride and joy they take in everything they do.
Ann also works as an Instructor for the B.I.A. (Building Industry Association), a project she is very passionate about. Her partnership with BIA allows Ann to work with future job seekers; providing training and helpful tips on creating your resume, preparing for interviews and job market analysis. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, getting lost in movies and listening to the peace and quiet of nature.
Barbara Guss - Professional Recruiter (O'ahu)
Barbara Guss has been a staffing professional for more than 25 years. In 1988, she was instrumental in establishing and operating Strictly Professional, an independent staffing firm in Honolulu. Her focus and expertise at this firm was in placing legal secretaries and administrative and executive assistants. During the 90s she spent a year on staff with The Neighborhood Justice Center, now known as The Mediation Center of the Pacific. Since that time, she has continued to frequently volunteer her services as a mediator and employs a mediation style of negotiation in her recruiting and placement activities. For 14 years, Barbara was an executive recruiter with ADECCO, a full-service staffing agency that specializes in administrative, technical and professional placements. She recruited for Legal, Construction Management and Hospitality positions.
In November 2010, Barbara joined Hawaii Employment. She enjoys being part of a large group which offers multiple HR related services to the local business community. Barbara continues to do what she loves — recruiting professionals for top tier companies. While working with employers and human resource professionals, Barbara has gained appreciation for the need to quickly identify and resolve employment issues as they arise.
Barbara is also a member and past president of the Professional Women’s Network and a long-time supporter of Make-A-Wish Hawaii.
Katheryne Laureano - Staffing Manager (O'ahu)
Katheryne started off as Staffing Support and was recently promoted to a Staffing Manager for our Industrial Division. She has a BA in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of Oregon. She also holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from UH Manoa. She comes from years of experience in retail management and customer service. Katheryne has a passion for recruiting and is an integral part of the team at HiEmployment through her management of the company’s top clients. With an outgoing and friendly demeanor, she’s able to assist in finding you the perfect job. On a side note, she loves to dance hula, Tahitian and go to the beach.
Mary Ann Llamedo - Staffing Manager (O'ahu)
Mary Ann Llamedo was born in Great Falls, Montana but has called Honolulu home for more than 40 years. She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, MVC; she recently completed her Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Science in Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Mary Ann has been married to husband, Andy, for over 30 years and has three adult daughters who are teachers and professional musicians. Mary Ann spent 17 years in private school education, including administration, before joining the team at HiEmployment as our Educational Services Staffing Manager.
Stephanie Morris - Office Manager
Stephanie joined HiEmployment as a receptionist but soon moved to Staffing Support before becoming our Office Manager. She is our go-to expert for processing payroll, invoicing clients, and the day to day administrative tasks. She brings years of excellent customer service experience and holds an AAS degree from North Country Community College in New York. When she’s not in the office she enjoys going hiking, going to the beach and attending festivals. Stephanie now resides in Vermont and continues to support us remotely.
Emily Murai - Assistant Office Manager (O'ahu)
Emily comes to us with a background in K-8 Urban Education and decided early on that she wanted a career change. Having worked as an Administrative Assistant for a pharmaceutical company, Emily soon discovered HiEmployment and seized the opportunity to be part of our team (which she has been loving so far!). Having grown up on the Big Island, Maui and O’ahu, Emily has been fitting in nicely. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her two dogs. We are very excited and grateful to have Emily on board!
Lucy Samuels - Receptionist (O’ahu)
From Mexico City to Chicago to Los Angeles, Lucy is no stranger to new things and new places. As our receptionist, Lucy has been a delight to work with both as a colleague and as the frontline for our employees and clients who walk through the door. She has two “furry children”: Rosco (boy) and Kona (girl). Lucy loves to plan and go on adventures. They include: skydiving, skiing, zip lining, shark cage diving, swimming with dolphins and manta rays and the oldie but goldie: hiking. One of Lucy’s favorite quotes by Franklin D. Roosevelt is “Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.” While she does have a knack for the daring, Lucy also carries with her over 15 years of experience in management and customer service. Being the first person you see at our main office, Lucy truly enjoys meeting and helping people every day – a very big reason why she is a joy to have on our HiEmployment team!
Josie Abawag - Staffing Supervisor (O'ahu)
“Josie” recently celebrated her Two-Year Anniversary with HiEmployment being brought on board in January 2016. She moved to Honolulu from the Philippines in 2004 and enjoys living in Hawaii. Currently assisting our Car Rental Division and Administrative Division, Josie recruits candidates for various jobs from Lot Attendants and Drivers to Data Entry Clerks and other Office Staff. She holds a Masters in Human Resource Management from Argosy University (Hawaii Campus) and has a wide background of experiences as a current Tax Professional, Certified Substitute Teacher and former Career Service and Admissions Advisor. Josie has been a great fit for our HiEmployment Team.
Joanne Iglesias - Staffing Supervisor (O'ahu)
Joanne started out as part of our Industrial Division splitting her time between the Hawaii Convention Center office and the main office at the Topa Financial Center. She came to HiEmployment with broad experience working in a variety of customer service roles, including retail management and inventory administration. Her high-spirited attitude is infectious to both her coworkers and employees which positively contributes to the synergy of the HiEmployment Team as a whole. Joanne’s attitude in part has since promoted her to Staffing Supervisor of our Car Rental Division. Joanne is constantly bringing a smile to everyone’s face and is a great person to work with.
Angela Parra - Staffing Support (O'ahu)
Angela joined our HiEmployment Team in 2016. A graduate of Hawaii Pacific University, Angela comes to us with a rich background in Human Resource Management. She is well-versed with the in’s and out’s of a staffing agency and contributes her wealth of knowledge and experience having been employed as a Human Resources Assistant for the healthcare industry. Angela always looks forward to taking on new challenges and opportunities with us, and all of us at HiEmployment are grateful to have her on-board.
Darcy Reformina - Staffing Support (O'ahu)
Darcy joined HiEmployment in 2015 as Staffing Support for the Industrial Division. From 2008 to 2013, she spent time in the Human Resources department at the Wynn Las Vegas working her way up quickly from Administrative Clerk to Staffing Representative. The depth of her Human Resources experience in Las Vegas made Darcy a great fit and a driving force for HiEmployment. Her commitment to her co-workers as well as employees make her an even more effective and fervent recruiter who is constantly looking for new and fresh ways to find talent. Darcy is a truly enjoys being a part of HiEmployment and is a thrill to have on the team.
London Thompson - Staffing Support (O'ahu)
London assists our Educational Services Division. Having just finished his MEd degree at the University of Hawaii Manoa, London joins our team with a very diverse background which includes coaching (Football & Track and Field), Music (Recording & Producing), as well as Business (International Marketing & Economics). It has been a true pleasure to have him on our team!
Francine Joaquin - Staffing Support (Maui)
Francine “Candy” Joaquin was born & raised on Maui, Candy brings with her over 30 years Hospitality Management experience spending 25 years with the Hyatt Corporation and 5 years with Napili Kai Beach Resort. She has held many titles including: Human Resources Director, Director of Guest Services, Quality Assurance Manager, Resort Training Manager, Employment Manager, and Benefits Manager. Candy worked for 5 years as the Office/HR Manager for a restoration company on Maui prior to joining Hi Employment. She has even been a Bridal Store Manager and Wedding Coordinator.
Candy has been married for over 50 years. Her family includes 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren who she enjoys spending time with. She also enjoys crafting, gardening & trying out new recipes in the kitchen. We are very grateful to have Candy helping us at our Maui office in serving our greater community.
Kwanza Woodson - Staffing Manager (Maui)
With us since June 2015, Kwanza came to us with over ten years experience as a sales agent and manager. Having been involved in implementing strategies, processes and programs to drive sales, Kwanza is a great resource to the HiEmployment team. He has been essential to the success of our Maui office and is an outstanding part of our management staff. A father of two, Kwanza enjoys his time with his family especially in the water. He is also an automotive enthusiast with dreams of one day building his own race car. Always finding a great balance of work and play, Kwanza has done excellent things for HiEmployment and is constantly aiming to exceed goals and expectations.

John Kaiwi - Staffing Manager (Kona)
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, our newest Staffing Manager, John, now resides in Kailua-Kona on Hawai’i Island. He has worked in Hotel & Hospitality Industry for approximately 15 years as a Hotel Manager. John’s most recent job was General Manager for the Kona Station of Alaska Airlines and Delta Global Services. An avid football fan, John has coached High School Varsity Football as well as Baseball and Track. He is also a combat Veteran who served in the Gulf War with the US Navy Search & Rescue Helicopter Combat Squadrons. In addition to having three grown children, John operates a Cross-Fit Program for candidates entering Military Service. He also spends time hunting, running, swimming, paddle boarding, kickboxing and doing jujitsu. We are happy to have John on our Big Island team and look forward to all the great things to come.
Chelsee Lawson - Staffing Support (Hilo)
Chelsee hails from Hilo, Hawaii where she runs our Hilo office. Having joined us in February 2018, she is one of our newest team members. Chelsee is HUGE on Hawaiian Culture and values family and community. She has danced hula since she was 14 and still performs today with her Hula Halau, Akaunu. In addition to hula, Chelsee loves to paddle canoe with the Keaukaha Canoe Club.
Chelsee has worked for Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, a non-profit Native Healthcare System where she helped with Health Education classes as well as established a Makau Kino Exercise Programthat offered free Yoga, Gentle Stretching & Zumba Fitness Classes to members of our Hilo Community. Chelsee also spent a decade in retail prior to HMONO working her way up from an On-Call Sales Associate to Store Manager at Hot Topic – Hilo. Currently, Chelsee still works part time at Kamehameha Schools Hawaii in their High School Athletic Department. We are very grateful to have Chelsee serving our community in Hilo.
Sarah Sharpe - Staffing Support (Kona)
Born on O’ahu but raised on Hawai’i Island, Sarah graduated from Sweetwater Health Education in 2014 where she received a certificate in Medical Assisting. She also received certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant through the National Health Career Association. With over 11 years of customer service experience and more than 6 years of experience in administrative services, Sarah has been an outstanding team member for our Hawai’i Island Office. Sarah joined The Hawaii Group as a Client Concierge assisting both HiHR (now ProService) and HiEmployment then fully transitioned onto HiEmployment staff. She is a great team player and we are very grateful to have her.

Eva Domingo - Receptionist & Staffing Support (Kaua'i)
Eva is no stranger to HiEmployment. She started with us in April 2016 as a temp for our Kaua’i office and was hired on internally later in September. Eva has a great background in customer service holding receptionist positions at H&R Block, Bank of Hawaii and Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union. In addition, she is a Certified Nurses Aide and Compliance Officer. Eva is great at keeping things in order ensuring maximum efficiency for our Kaua’i Team and has been a great fit for our HiEmployment family.
Scott Lever - Staffing Manager (Kaua'i)
Scott spent 15 years in regional and national sales on the mainland, selling electronics components and military electronics hardware. Moving from sales into recruiting, he worked for 18 years as an executive recruiter in electronics, electrical products and factory automation systems, first for a large national recruiting firm and then in his own private practice. In 2009, Scott moved to Kauai and worked in sales for a major rental car organization before joining HiEmployment to help establish the new Kauai branch office. When not working he can be found hiking, snorkeling and enjoying Kaua’i island’s great beauty.
