Sean Knox

Owner and President
Sean Knox is the President of Hawaii Employment Services and was previously the owner and President of POI Employment, LLC. Sean has over 11 years of experience in professional staffing in Hawaii. After working for a national, mainland based staffing agency, Sean decided to open POI Employment in April 2005 with a focus on personalized, high quality services.

Sean has been working in business management since 1993, when he received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Puget Sound. Although Sean is a “local boy,” growing up on both the Big Island and Maui, his business management experience has taken him to Washington and England. In 1999, he returned home to Hawaii with his wife Sarah Knox.

Scott Meichtry graduated from San Diego Sate University in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a passion for entrepreneurship. Upon graduation, he moved with his fiancee to Vail, Colorado, to start a business in the construction industry. There, he incorporated and oversaw several successful businesses.

Chief Financial Officer
Wayne brings almost 25 years of experience in business administration and financial management to the team at HiEmployment. A University of Hawaii graduate with a stellar GPA in both his Masters in Accounting and a Business Administration degrees, Wayne’s experience with Hawaiian companies — including Hawaiian Airlines, Palama Ventures, Island Title Corporation, and Hawaiian Hotels & Resorts — makes him an indispensible addition to HiEmployment. Wayne enjoys golfing, softball, and basketball, and spends a lot of time with his daughter and her soccer activities.

Barbara Guss has been a staffing professional for more than 20 years. In November 2010, Barbara joined Hawaii Employment, a part of The Hawaii Group. With a Master’s degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology and experience as a Personnel Psychologist in the Naval Educational Training Personnel Development and Technology Center, Heather possesses an amazing set of skills and is well-suited to the daunting task of managing the clerical and operational details of HiEmployment with a gusto and outstanding professionalism perfected by experience. Heather keeps the company running smoothly, dedicated to providing our candidates, employees and employers with real-time service and support. In addition, Heather was a scholarship-winning NCAA cross country and track athlete, graduated early from UNF in just 2.5 years, and currently holds the Newsletter position for the VP-9 Officer Spouse Club (OSC) here in Hawaii.


Thomas Pirog, Jr.

Director of Temporary Staffing
Thomas has years of experience in a variety of staffing administration, supervising, and advising positions, including a stint handling staffing for all of the cooking, kitchen, janitorial, and housekeeping staff of the Hawaii Convention Center. His breadth of experience and ability to proficiently administer complex staffing issues make Thomas an invaluable asset to HiEmployment, translating directly to top-notch service for our customers. On the weekends Thomas is an avid photographer and sometimes helps us with minor photography needs.

Carrie Perdue-Graham HR & Training Manager
Carrie Perdue-Graham carries a wealth of expertise and experience in human resources, having lead the HR departments at four major local businesses. Her energy and encouraging attitude are inspiring, as are her leadership skills and genuine care for others. Carrie holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Human Relations with emphases in HR Management and Training Development, as well as a Trainer Certificate from the American Society of Training and Development.

Bernie brings to HiEmployment a fifteen-year career in human resources, with experience in fields as diverse as realty, wedding planning, travel, and employment. Her background in directing and managing HR companies throughout the Hawaiian islands is an invaluable asset to our clients and internal operations alike.


Gregg Fraser

Gregg Fraser Operations Manager
Gregg has over 30 years of experience in the food and beverage and hospitality industries in Hawaii. Raised in the industry here in Hawaii, Gregg realized his own dream of opening a restaurant in Waikiki. Gregg’s extensive experience also ranges from his stints as a hotel General Manager, Director of F&B, and manager of an entire operation for food productions for a major airline catering company. He is well-versed in hotel, fine dining, banquets, and food service staffing and recruiting. Gregg brings his knowledge of training principals and wants to share his belief in the Aloha Spirit with each and every one of his employees.

Ann Keolanui-Manabat

Ann Keolanui-Manabat Staffing Manager
Ann started her staffing career in 2004, providing volume staffing for janitorial, food and beverage, and hospitality positions for the Hawaii Convention Center. In 2006, she accepted an opportunity to be the Assistant Executive Steward for the largest resort on the island, The Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. With more than four restaurants, outlets, banquets, and off-property events, she was part of the Executive Food & Beverage Management Team to lead, support and motivate a team of over 2000 employees. The desire to return to staffing and recruiting led her back into a staffing role with ManpowerGoup, a Global Staffing Company. She joined our team at HiEmployment as a Staffing Manager in 2012. Ann is looking forward to building positive relationships with clients and candidates and providing excellent staffing services.


Marissa Arakaki

Marissa Arakaki Staffing Support
Marissa Arakaki has several years in the hospitality business with a diverse experience in various facets of hotel management and operations. Most recently she was the Food and Beverage Coordinator at The Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island. Also at The Fairmont Orchid, Marissa held positions as Group Billing Coordinator as well as Human Resources Manager responsible for recruitment at management and colleague levels, recruiting statewide nationally and internationally. Marissa was also instrumental in the coordination and execution of the hotel’s annual food and wine fundraising events for the Hawaii Island United Way, raising as much as $24,000 in one event. Marissa received her Bachelors Degree of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in San Francisco, California.
